In the book binding works of 100JAHRE BAUHAUS, I gave up the stereotyped traditional geometry as the design element, instead, I use the geometric outline formed by text, graphics and grid system to create the “Bauhaus Sense”.
In the design of the cover, I mainly use wireframe to plan the layout occupied by each design element, and specially present the catalogue directly on the cover, which can not only bring the closer intimacy between the book and the reader before it is opened, but also manifest the Bauhaus’s concept of functional supremacy.
In the design of the inner page, I adopted the adjusted Van de Graaf Canon typesetting method to plan the layout,and make sure all the illustrations of the whole book were mainly presented in the form of blue and red, through these two important steps, I hope book can visually accurately convey the sense of unity and order, furthermore, I get inspiration from the paintings of Malevich, Kan- dinsky, then extract the interspersed structure of text and pictures.
